Clash breaks out as farmers pelt stones, police respond with tear gas at shambhu border

A tense standoff unfolded at the Shambhu border between Haryana and Punjab as clashes erupted between protesting farmers and police forces. Following the call for a march to Delhi, the situation escalated dramatically, with protesters hurling stones and police responding with tear gas shells. Amidst the chaos, many farmers were detained by the authorities, while security measures remained stringent.

The conflict at the Shambhu border continues unabated, with drones deployed to monitor farmer activities and tear gas shells launched by police to disperse the crowds. In response to the unrest, Ambala Inspector General Sibas Kaviraj stated that farmers with tractor trolleys would not be permitted to cross the border, emphasizing the need to maintain traffic flow. Despite inconclusive talks between farmers and Union ministers in Chandigarh, leading to threats of a march to Delhi, security arrangements have been intensified to prevent further escalation.
